Visiting Artists’ Programme – Expressions of Interest Now Open!

Now that Abundance is open, we are eager to welcome artists to work with the local community to continue the transformation of the space. As the plants blossom and grow, we want the space to do so as well, becoming ever more colourful and reflective of the people who visit.

We are now extending an invitation for expressions of interest in our Visiting Artists’ Programme. As a Visiting Artist, we will host you at Abundance, providing a warm welcome and all the resources the space has to offer. While we are not able to offer a fee, we will promote your activity as part of our summer programme and encourage attendance over our social media. Any fee you take would come through bookings participants make directly with you.

Proposals from artists in any art form are welcome, whether it’s music, writing, wellbeing, dance, painting, sculpture, photography, multimedia, textiles, ceramics – and any other forms not mentioned here. We’d love to be surprised! The themes of our garden playspace are the natural world, play, co-creation, autonomy and inclusion. All workshops must be inclusive – we’re excited to hear how Visiting Artists’ workshops might reflect one or more of the other themes too.

Please take a look at www.wearespectra.co.uk/abundance or at our social media to get a view of the site. Or better yet, come for a visit!

Spectra is a neurodiverse multi-arts company that creates playful and inclusive work that explores the world around us. We warmly welcome applications from the global majority; members of the LGBTQIA+ community; those who identify as disabled; and members of D/deaf communities.

Dates: Abundance is open daily from 25 June – 3 September. Please specify which date you would like to hold your workshop. Tuesdays throughout the summer are not available.

Location: Outside the Birmingham Treatment Centre, Dudley Rd, Birmingham B18 7QH
