Level 5 Access Guide

Performances and events by Spectra and partners sometimes take place in the Level 5 gallery area of Midland Metropolitan University Hospital.
Travel information and a journey planner for getting to MMUH is hosted on the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust website: https://www.swbh.nhs.uk/our-new-hospital/how-to-get-to-midland-metropolitan-university-hospital/
The nearest car park is the main visitor car park accessible from Grove Lane. The closest train station is Smethwick Rolfe Street.
Access information about The Commons community garden can be found here.
Getting to Level 5
If coming in through the hospital main entrance, there are bright green toilet facilities on your left and right. If you are entering via the car park, you will already come out next to the lifts. The lifts are labelled “Lifts to Welcome Centre”. Select Floor 5, the same as the Welcome Centre.
You are aiming for the gallery space. Hospital volunteers or event volunteers will be able to guide you to the gallery space.

Toilets and facilities
On the ground floor, where you will come in, there are toilets, including male, female, a disabled toilet and changing places, which are both accessed via RADAR key.
There are also toilets and baby change facilities on the fifth floor.

Food and Drink
On the fifth floor is a publicly accessible hospital canteen. Here, there is a serve yourself salad bar, fridges with pre-prepared sandwiches and snacks, and canteen style hot-food.
There is also a small M&S and a coffee shop.
On the ground floor, outside of the main entrance, are Greggs and Crumbles Sandwich Bar & Coffee Shop, which serve Costa coffee.

What to expect in the space
The event space is in a busy hospital environment, and there are often lots of people coming and going throughout the hospital.
On Level Five, there is a very high ceiling made of clear glass, which means it is a bright, light space. In sunny, hot weather, this can make the area quite warm; in heavy rain, the sound can be loud as the raindrops bounce off the ceiling.
On level five, there are places to sit, including chairs and sofas, and the event space itself will have various seating options.
