We’re seeking a graphic designer!

Spectra is looking for a talented graphic designer to create an animated illustration and poster. The illustration will be a visual representation of a manifesto for Midland Metropolitan University Hospital’s Arts Programme. Spectra has been commissioned to co-create this manifesto on behalf of the hospital and Your Trust Charity, part of the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. We are currently undertaking a four month period of creative community engagement and consultation to develop the manifesto.

The manifesto will be based on the Theory of Change, a model that maps out different activities and outcomes that are required to meet long-term goals. We will provide you with all the written content and information for the design and are seeking someone with an enthusiasm for embedding creativity, accessibility, and inclusivity within their artistic practice.

We want this to be an engaging piece of work with a personable feel and are more likely to be drawn to an illustrated aesthetic. Whilst we require some level of animation to present this in video format, we are flexible on the detail of this, from simple layering to more complex animations.

The budget for this project is £1500 inclusive of expenses and travel costs. The timetable for the work is as follows:

  • Initial meeting – w/c 24 July
  • Visuals developed between 31 July and 1 Sep
  • Text provided – by Fri 1 Sep
  • Draft design – by Fri 8 Sep
  • Final design – by Fri 15 Sep

Closing date 10am on 23 June, interviews on 26 & 27 June.

Please send an expression of interest alongside to eman@wearespectra.co.uk that explains how your experience and outlook will allow you to fulfil the brief outlined above, alongside examples of your work. This can be up to two A4 pages or a voice recording of up to 5 minutes – or in another format that is most accessible to you.

We will anonymise applications for shortlisting and endeavour to interview as many candidates that have met our essential criteria and identify as belonging to a marginalised or minoritised group as we have capacity to. Because of this, we request that written applications are presented simply and with as few identifying marks as possible. In order to track how inclusive our recruitment is, we ask that every candidate fills out a monitoring form here: https://forms.gle/PPCcoMN5ym4vP99e6
