Abundance is a play space for all, created as part of the Birmingham 2022 Festival. Far from a typical playground, audiences will step inside a world rich in colour, flavour, scent, texture, and the invitation for children and adults alike to move, create, grow and play. Abundance is a collaboration, where artists, growers and makers will collaborate with local communities to create a truly magical environment.

Come and join us outside Birmingham Treatment Centre, Dudley Road, B18 7QH.

Open 25th June-3rd September 2022

10-6pm

Entrance is free and we can’t wait to welcome you!

What can you do at Abundance?

  • Make a den inside a gigantic leaf
  • Track rain collecting in a huge mushroom
  • Cloud gaze from a giant hammock
  • Weave into a willow nest
  • Have a rest on a toadstool seat
  • Follow swifts’ floral path across the globe
  • Explore different textures with bare feet or hands
  • Build whatever you dream up from a stash of loose parts
  • Concoct a potion and cast a spell
  • Compose a symphony with a fence harp, bird whistles and an ear trumpet
  • Create a water run with ramps, mills and funnels
  • Fan yourself with fragrant herbs
  • Meander through towering flowers, tiny trees and pretty plants
  • Find a moment’s peace as you sense the abundance of nature around us

There is a space at Abundance for everybody. If you’ve had enough adventure and want to pause, you are welcome to spend as much time as you need with us. And if you need any support to access the space, please get in touch to let us know how we can make your visit easy and enjoyable.

There are spaces to hide and look at the world a different angle, spaces to lean back and relax, and benches to watch Abundance unfold.

Soon we’ll be telling you all about our artist in residence public programme happening over the summer, but in the meantime get ready for our Opening Ceremony on Saturday 25 June! We’ll be celebrating with Spectra’s customary whimsical style of multi-sensory performance at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
