Join us for Abundance, coming to Birmingham City Hospital, Dudley Road, B18 7QH.
Abundance is a play space for all, created as part of the Birmingham 2022 Festival. Far from a typical playground, audiences will step inside a world rich in colour, flavour, scent, texture, and the invitation for children and adults alike to move, create, grow and play. Abundance is a collaboration, where artists, growers and makers will collaborate with local communities to create a truly magical environment.
Abundance is for everyone. Come explore our barefoot walk and barehand trail; concoct a magic potion; pedal as fast as a zooming swift; or relax under our giant mushrooms. Soon we’ll be releasing more information about our artist in residence programme over the summer, where they’ll be even more fun.
Who are we?
Our team of artists, including gardeners, willow artists, performance artists, musicians and more, have already been on a huge journey of discovery. We travelled to meet Wild Rumpus, spending time in their country retreat to explore sustainability and play; we’ve met with experts from the Canal and Rivers Trust and the RSPB to learn about the heritage of Sandwell and Birmingham, and the fascinating lives of the nature that surrounds us all. But our Abundance journey is only just beginning.
Volunteer with Us:
We’re looking for volunteers to help us build the space and look after it over the summer. Whether you’re looking to volunteer as a one off or looking to get involved a little more regularly, click here for more info and how to get in touch.
More Ways to Get Involved
Join us and help us shape our space, whether you’ve got an avid green thumb, love to play or want to try your hand at a new activity. Over the project we’re looking to connect with a wide array of groups local to Sandwell and West Birmingham. These groups will be offered free creative workshops with our artists, and the ideas that spring from the session will form a part of the final design. Workshops will be tailored to suit each group, but an example workshop could include designing a dream playground; or building a willow nest. All are welcome to get involved and if you’d like to know more at this stage please get in touch with Heidi on email@example.com
So far we’ve run sessions in schools and community groups looking at space making and making potions. To keep up to date on our workshops, why not follow us on Instagram.
More information as the project develops will be available here, to learn more you can also sign up to our mailing list.
